〜 The Sacred Flame: How to LET GO with a Ritual Fire..

There are many ways of letting go of our shadows.. I am sharing my favourite way, as it also brings me outside.. The art of making a fire is almost a lost art these days, and in my universe, only some shamans know how..

I honour the fire as a living being, a reflection of my inner flame, the Sun and the 'eye of the Creator'. Every time you light the fire you see the same eternal flame that has been burning since the beginning of dawn. How cycledelic! Read the full post before you venture out on your quest and bring something to sit on, some tea and warm layers for comfort if you are living in the north..

I. Choose a good quality wood (like birch) which will remain the only wood we will use when the fire burns.

II. Meditate with the wood and charge it with what I want to let go of.. You can also write it directly on the wood with a pencil.

III. Clear and tidy the space where you are building the fire and maybe make an altar with your sacred objects and any offerings you want to give to the fire as a sign of gratitude (dried herbs/flowers). Simple is beautiful.

IV. Use three small logs in the bottom to represent the shadow, medicine and siddhi - and nine small logs in on top in a different direction to represent their amplification (this is for the more advanced, not a must). Remember to give enough air and space for the fire to be able to grow.

V. Place some dried birch bark and smaller splinters in the middle for ignition.

VI. Take a moment to connect with your intention of burning your shadows before lighting the fire, preferably with matches. Sit back and rest.. Tune in to the smell of the fire, the sound of her release, the beauty of her flames.. You may also want to connect to- and bring in the fires of our Cycledelics Circle to support each others' process..

VII. When it feels natural, make the active choice to LET GO. Contemplate the sensation of lightness and ecstacy as you watch your shadows evaporate..

VIII. Be very aware of what you feed the fire with as you sit with her flames - don't throw but place any offerings in the glowing embers. In the Vedic traditions, they nurture the fire with home-made ghee (clarified butter).

IX. Stay with the fire until it burns out by itself. Close the fire with reverence and honour for holding space for your alchemical process. Tidy the space and leave it more beautiful than when you came.

X. When you have completed this ritual you are self-initiated as a 'GUARDIAN OF FIRE'.

*Personalize your ritual! Make it yours.. Some other elements to consider are invocations, crystal grids, calling in guides/spirit animals and so on..
